When you buy a wood-burning stove, it is important that it is correctly maintained to ensure optimal combustion and a long life. Failure to perform regular maintenance may cause the warranty to lapse, in full or in part.

Therefore, we recommend that you have your wood-burning stove serviced by an authorised service engineer approx. every second year. It may be a good idea to establish a routine for maintaining your wood-burning stove.

At the start of the season:

  • Make sure that the chimney sweep has checked and swept your chimney. If you have had a new chimney installed you must report it to the local authorities.. Then the chimney sweep will automatically call on you once a year
  • Clean the wood-burning stove thoroughly: ash pan, combustion chamber, strips and panes
  • Lubricate the hinges with copper grease. To learn how, click here
  • Check the gaskets - and replace, if required
  • Adjust/tighten up door and handle
  • Check if the Skamolex is in need of replacement. To learn how, click here
